Horace Mann article
I would like to get everyone's opinions on this article. For my part, I am disturbed most by the involvement of students in the dispute between the faculty and the trustees. That teachers would ask their students to sign a petition to retain Trees is unacceptable. Their education and overall HM experience should not be disrupted by the administration's red tape. I am also upset to hear of the leverage the trustees have over the administration and faculty. I am sure this was true when Z, G, and I attended HM but it just had not been reported on. It's sad that the faculty is blatantly subordinate to these trustees and their children. When a healthy discourse is subverted by both the trustees and the headmaster (who, by all accounts, is not qualified for the post), the students are robbed of the right, and more disturbingly, the cognizance that they SHOULD have the right to question or criticize the status quo.
Sunday Night Dinner
Had a wonderful dinner with Mom, Dad, Alex and Joel Goldman and Tif last night. Mom was kind enough to whip up a great meal of Virginia ham, roasted potatoes and some seasonal white asparagus. Since I've moved out in September I've come to look forward to our Sunday night dinners at home. It's especially nice to be able to have the relationship with Mom and Dad that I have: good people, great parents.
Also help set Grandpa up on a blog, we'll see how this goes. If I start getting 184 emails a day from Nert requesting me post his articles I'm pulling the plug, simple as that.

Hey Mom and Dad...
Fighting with spouse can be good for your health
Just came across this link on CNN. I guess it's a double-edged sword: you get to live longer but you spend that extra time together getting on each others nerves. If this is the case then the two of you are certain to celebrate a 75th anniversary in 2054 when Dad will be 104 and Mom will be a Springlike 101.

I suspect some of the contributions to this blog will be, how to put it...odd?
Or, in David Bowie's words, "Turn and face the strange."
